All too often, youth can't function adequately at home, while in foster care, in the community or at school. Many have had multiple placements, a history of psychiatric hospitalization or involvement in the juvenile justice system.
Many have experienced neglect or physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Some are so severely disabled they require 24-hour treatment and care.
Member agencies work to give youth the kind of stability and comfort every child should experience growing up at home. Alliance agencies provide:
Residential Treatment Centers - structured services for youth with significant behavior disorders. Many provide on-site schools.
Transitional-Living Programs - longer-term residential sercies to older homeless youth, helping them make a successful transition to self-sufficient living.
Group Homes - for 12 or fewer youth who are able to function in a community-based setting.
Treatment Homes - a safe environment for meeting the social, educational and emotional needs of vulnerable children and their families.
Shelters - short-term care prior to a return home or another placement.
Maternity and Mother/Child Programs - services to adolescents who are pregnant or caring for their babies.
Adoptions - bring children into permanent homes, providing them love to help them heal and flourish.
Outpatient Counseling - help with substance abuse, anger management, parenting skills, mental health and other issues that keep people from meeting their full potential.
Independent-Living Programs - teaching the skills residents will need to live independently.
Case Management - a full range of treatment and support services to children with the most complex needs.
Street Outreach Programs - street-based outreach and education to youth on the streets who have been, or are at risk of being, abused and/or exploited.
